Valor's Hike..."Walk Off the War"
Earl Shaffer said he was going to “walk off the war” after returning from World War II, and four months later became the first person to hike the entire Appalachian Trail. That same principle is what we're going to use to help combat veterans dealing with PTSD, TBI, Depression, addiction, etc. Working with local veteran organizations, drug courts, and rehab facilities, VV is going to take groups of veterans on the Pinhoti trail. Located in North Alabama, the 3 day hike will have older veterans, family's of veterans, etc at each trail head to share their stories. Local organizations will provide meals at the trailheads also. For example, one trailhead will have older vets to share things from their personal experiences that they wished people would have shared with them. The next trailhead will have family members who have lost veterans to suicide. Another trailhead will have other veteran non-profits who offer other forms of outdoor therapy.

Helps with Sleep, Depression, Anxiety
In addition to Outdoor Therapy, we will encourage combat veterans to explore additional therapies. Specifically, Red Light Therapy. (RLT)
RLT is used for combat veterans, employing red and near-infrared light (often via LED helmets) to treat TBI, PTSD, and pain, mimicking the warm, healing light frequencies found in fire. These non-invasive, drug-free LED treatments penetrate tissue to increase cellular energy and reduce
